Surprise!!

Last weekend I was able to throw Ben his first surprise party for his upcoming 30th birthday! =) It took planning and plotting, but I was able to pull it off thanks to all my helpers!

I decided a couple months ago that with Ben turning 30 this year that I really wanted to throw him a party, and I really wanted it to be a surprise :) I figured the best place to throw it was Kansas since so many of his friends and family live there that it would be easier to get us there than to get all of them here. So that's what we did!

We went to Kansas for the 4th of July and because Ben thought we were surprising one of his other friends whose birthday is only 1 day apart from Ben. We stayed with our good friends the Hawkinsons and Joe took Ben to the gun range to get him out of the house while everyone came and we set up the party and waited for their return!

Here is the setup in the backyard for our pirate themed party:

Here is Ben's face as he realized what was going on: :)

Here are the pirate desserts:

Here's Joe, the grill master! cooking our hot dogs/hamburgers:

and here are the awesome "rum" (rootbeer) drinks that Reagan made for us:

Overall it was a huge success! :) I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted - I think because we were just having too much fun ;) but it was such a blessing to be able to surprise him and have all his friends/family gathered in one place. my parents even flew up for the party which was awesome!! A BIG thanks again to all who helped me pull it off! I was so glad to be able to make my husband feel special, because he sure is special to me and I love him dearly! :) Happy almost 30th birthday, hubby!!! (Argggh) ;)
